GISBORNE & DISTRICT LIONS CLUB
Distribution or Utilisation of Funds Raised by the Club
Areas/proposals that are considered for distribution or utilisation are assessed against the following criteria:
(a) the beneficiary is an individual or family facing hardship living in the Gisborne and district area *
(b) the beneficiary is an individual with a disability requiring assistance or support living in the Gisborne and district area
(c) the beneficiary is an entity with a public interest focus which requires assistance or support in the Gisborne and district area
(d) every year contribute to the construction of a public asset in the Gisborne and district area
(e) contribute when considered appropriate to a maximum of one Lions International/Australian sponsored cause
(f) contribute as needed in relation to natural disasters (for example fires, floods etc) within the Gisborne and district area, neighbouring districts and Victoria generally.
* In relation to (a) above, if the matter is deemed urgent, the Committee will make a recommendation that a payment be made, to the President for approval, with the payment ratified at the next Board meeting. Generally, such payments would be limited to $100.
Normally, social welfare organisations would request financial assistance in relation to an individual or family who are encountering hardship. Requests received via letter or verbally would be forwarded to one of these organisations for assessment. Generally, such payments would be limited to $250.
